GEORGE RHOADS has worked as a printmaker, ceramicist, muralist, advertising artist and medical illustrator. He has designed many kinetic fountains. His audio kinetic sculptures are precise clockwork-like mechanisms governed by weight and timing. Yet, they maintain the appearance of spontaneity and randomness. These works promote the concept that the machine itself is a work of art, designed to demystify machinery and stimulate viewer reaction. Mr. Rhoads’ work is part of the permanent collections of such museums as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Chicago Art Institute.
